Oh this
I guess I just wouldn’t feel right about the year if it didn’t end badly. And so it is that I limp into Christmas feeling like hell and dreading the future, and I do it all alone. There will be no whiny manifesto, nor will there be a cry for sympathy, empathy or any other -athy. I’m just going to sit here and wonder why I’m watching “Dharma and Greg” reruns and wait. I’m not sure what I’m waiting for, but I hope it’s good, and I hope it’s soon, because I’ve had just about enough of this.

I can clear up the mystery of the Dharma and Greg for you. The answer is that sometimes one doesn’t always have the energy to change the channel after watching a really fantastic episode of Caroline in the City, which we all know comes before Dharma and Greg. It is nothing to be embarrased about.
I hope you are feeling better soon Matt, and remember that you are not alone! Especially now that the government has given me the okay to drive myself out to Oakville to see you!

OK, here’s what you’ll do. Go down to the local bookstore or library, and ask them to point you in the direction of the science-fiction. “The what?” “The fantasy section.” “Umm… lemme get the manager.” “The part of the store where you pulled Lord of the Rings from to place in the front window.” “Oh,” the attendant will say, and give you directions.
You’re going to look in the sci-fi for R’s, Spider Robinson. You don’t want the ones that he earned awards for, the epic Stardance series, or Mindkiller, or even his short-stories. No sir, you want the ones with drunks on the cover.
You want… dare I say need Callahan. Rereading the same damn stories still brings a torrent to my eyes, such majesty is contained in there.
Not just because Jake wins, or Callahan wins, or whoever came into the place that night got over there hurt.
It’s because ingrained into each sentence that the book has, the very spirit of the human race wins.
And if you say that doesn’t intrest you, that you’d rather shrug off the human race and mellow in a bath of self-pity, you know what that makes you? That makes you emo. That makes you so emo that emo people that have been striving to attain inner emo for such a long time that they’ll cry and become even more emo from hating your emoness for such a long time.
Dharma and Greg isn’t so bad, is it? Hang in there, Matt. It’s been a long december, but there’s reason to believe that, uh, maybe this year will be better than the last…
Nothing like Counting Crows to make you feel all warm and cheery inside. Dr. O’Sullivan solves another medical mystery … the cure for ‘Blah’ (which as we all know, can be looked up in a thesaurus, thanks Kristine)! Soon we will be back in halifax and we will “see the ocean” and hopefully your back will be feeling 100% by then. Until then… Dharma and Greg is not such a shameful passtime. And Caroline in the City is still one the the best cheesy tv shoes on television!
Feel better soon Matt!

Thanks guys. I’m glad to see a comment from you, Rory! I love comments.
Coco, I’d gladly take your suggestions if I was capable of leaving the house right now. Sadly I have encountered a medical problem that has left me laid out and housebound. It has not been fun.
