Photos: Dublin, Ireland
Continuing along with the big backlog of photos, today we have a series of pictures taken in Dublin, Irleland. Erin, Rory and I went there in late August for a quick visit en route to visit Kristine. It was fast-paced and very Catholic, as all the best things in life are.
Some highlights:
- Oscar Wilde’s long and brilliant career is commemorated by perhaps the gayest statue ever in Merrion Square
- I generally suck at the whole taking-a-picture-of-myself thing, but I think I did a pretty good job with this one. Not shown: the sixteen other attempts which made me look terrible
- During the Dublinia exhibit at the Church of Ireland, Erin and I learned many things. First: Some history. Second: What Irish doctors wear. Third: More history (the black death). Well worth the 12 euros it cost us to get in.
- The sandcastles outside Dublin Castle were perhaps poorly located, but they were also really really cool.
- The Millennium Spike, located just over the river in Dublin, serves no obvious purpose. I liked it because it makes for a sort of nice phallic brotherhood with the City of Toronto, which I now call home.
- The Guiness Storehouse Tour was pretty cool, if only for the neat 360-degree sky lounge at the top. Still, though, when it comes to brewery tours, Keith’s is king.
Up next: London, England.

Having been to a couple of brewery tours myself, I can attest to the Keith’s tour’s awesomeness. When that picture on the wall in the dining room became posessed by the spirit of Alexander Keith and started talking to us, that was the best — and no, I swear I hadn’t started drinking at that point!
