Y: The Last Man Comes To an End
The final issue of Brian K Vaughan & Pia Guerra’s Y: The Last Man came out today. It’s been over five years since I read the first issue and I still remember being entirely captivated by Vaughan’s premise. It got a little shaky at points over the course of 60 issues, but taken as one very long story it is simply very very good.
And today’s finale issue is the best thing I’ve read in months.
If you haven’t read this series, check it out. There are no superheroes. It’s drawn by a fabulous artist with a focus on character, emotion and great dialogue. There are monkeys and amazons and ninjas and spies. There’s sex and violence and terribly bad language. There are terrificly exciting scenes, and heartbreakingly sad ones. It’ll confuse you, it’ll frustrate you, and it will captivate you. I really can’t recommend it highly enough.
